Adam Pash You Can Help My Company
New Facebook Marketing Concept!
Dude! You've been "scooped" by your sister over at Gizmodo! I'm a big fan of both of your blogs, but when I read Kyle's post about The Smartest Way to Find a Job on Google, I was a bit surprized. Aren't tips for living better your racket?
Ok, well here's your chance to one-up them...
Using Facebook ads to target individual people.
The Facebook ad platform is a great way to get in front of a target audience. The demographic and psycographic data that they allow advertisers to use in reaching people lets us zero in on a specific group in pretty exciting ways! But about a year ago, I had the idea to see just how focused I could go, looking to reach just one person.
Now, this all started as a fun way of earning some "brownie points" with my girlfriend (now my fiance). When we first started dating, I set up a Facebook ad with a picture of her in it touting how excited I was that we were together. I filled the targeting with a ton of information specific to her. I knew her age, her college, and her hometown. I went and took a look at the interests that she posted on Facebook and used those, too. Soon, Facebook was telling me that I was going to reach less than 20 people - perfect!
Only about a day later, I got an excited message from her: "You took out an ad?!" It worked!
So, as a Marketer I started thinking about all of the exciting implications. What if I could use Facebook targeting to specifically reach thought leaders? So that's where you and Lifehacker come in!
I wanted to introduce you to our company, G.1440. Founded in 1998 in Baltimore, MD, we're a technology firm specializing in web design, online marketing, custom app development, and, locally, IT staffing. We also just launched a new suite of affordable, quick-to-deploy, and fully custom web design & marketing services for organizations that need to start delivering results online, but can't afford to engage G.1440 for one of the larger technology engagements that we've traditionally specialized in.
I was hoping you could reward our creativity! It would be absolutely amazing if you could provide a link to us... It would mean a lot to me personally as a reader of the Gawker blogs, and a great deal to our company.
(Plus, I'm targeting Kyle, the author of the story on Giz, too - so if you want to scoop him, move fast!)
Feel free to borrow from this story, or simply relay to people how you found this. Let your audience know that there's some exciting, creative thinking going on over here in Baltimore!!
Thanks so much!
