Google’s +1 Button Will Impact Search Results

Well, it looks like the folks over at Gizmodo and Wired have gotten official word that Google is looking at ways to use the data from the +1 button to re-order search engine rankings.  This probably shouldn’t be a major headline, though, since we’ve been expecting Google to use it’s new social networking toy to gather even more information about the websites & information that users find relevant – ultimately looking to improve the entire line of Google products & services, including search.

As a web marketer, the first thing that comes to mind is the impact this will have on SEO.  Honestly, this could usher in some pretty significant, sweeping changes for search engine optimization – and I can’t wait.  We’ve always worked with companies to build websites & SEO strategies that are rooted in providing the best possible user experience & well placed, optimized content.  Well-designed websites that put their users first should be poised for long-term success as users’ preferences are measured more directly than ever!

Of course, this also means that having a solid social marketing strategy is even more important than ever – luckily I happen to know a company in web design & marketing company in Baltimore that can help you navigate all of this!
