Mobile Keeps Getting Bigger

The iPad has joined the iPhone as a cultural phenomenon.  Android & iOS are duking it out for supremacy.  And Microsoft & HP are, well, really, really trying.

Mobile is huge, and as tablets start to bridge the gap between your pocket & your laptop, it’s only getting bigger.  And with 4G speeds now rolling out across the country, users are clamoring for a better mobile experience.  This doesn’t mean you have to go out and develop some custom iPad app that somehow makes free ice cream floats appear out of thin air – it just means that you have to consider the mobile user!

It’s true that the success of these platforms (even the ones that haven’t really launched yet) are sometimes measured in apps – but the one thing that almost every mobile device, regardless of platform, does do is browse the web.  So, at least start there!  Think about who would need to find you on the go – and serve up something catered just for them… It’s the same good marketing sense that feeds good web design – you just have to remember that your audience has different motivations when they’re mobile and you’ll need to serve these visitors differently.

This trend isn’t stopping – so it’s time to ask yourself if your organization is ready to compete in a mobile world!  Don’t you wish someone saw this mobile thing coming and told you to get ready?
